Overseas Applicants - Internship

Overseas Applicant Internship Membership Information

Please be advised of the following information in relation to Overseas Clinician Membership Applications with the Australian College of Audiology (ACAud):-

Minimum Requirements for Associate Membership:-

  • To apply for Associate Audiologist Status – Must hold a minimum 4 Year Bachelor Degree in Audiology
  • To apply for Associate Audiometrist Status – Must hold a minimum Diploma in Audiometry

Online Membership Application Process:-

  • Visit http://www.acaud.com.au
  • Click on MEMBERSHIP tab on top site menu
  • Click on JOIN tab under Membership tab
  • Click on Associate Membership
  • Click on Sign Up Button
  • Complete all the fields and upload supporting documentation in required fields (Degrees, Academic Transcripts, Confirmation of Visa Application Approval or VET Assess outcome letter, IELTS - minimum Overall Band score of 7 with no individual element below 6.5)

Application Examination:-

  • All Overseas Membership Applicants must undertake an Application Examination
  • Please contact ACAud to be sent a Monitor Agreement form and Candidate instructions (External Monitor should consist of the following professionals Local Librarian, Local Justice of the Peace, Local Police Officer, Local Rev/Priest).
  • This examination must be completed AND online membership application submitted before Associate Membership application can be processed by ACAud
  • This application examination is a 1.5 hour written examination which consists of both short answer and multiple choice style questions.  This application examination is focused around Hearing Assessment, Hearing Aid Fitting & Hearing Rehabilitation.

Supervision Requirements:-

  • Once Associate Membership has been obtained, Associates are required to undertake a minimum 6 month supervision program with ACAud (supervision table to be advised). Further information and specific supervision requirements will be distributed to applicant once Associate Membership has been obtained.
  • Primary Supervisor (required) - Must have held Full Membership with a PPB (Practitioner Professional Body) for a minimum of 3 Years
    Secondary Supervisor (optional) - Must hold Full Membership with a PPB (Practitioner Professional Body)

    **PPB (Practitioner Professional Body) include ACAud, Audiology Australia & HAASA

Final Examination Requirements:-

  • Associate Audiologists – Upon completion of minimum 6 month supervision program Associate Audiologists are required to undertake two examinations (one in Audiometry and one in Audiology)
  • Associate Audiometrists – Upon completion of minimum 6 months supervision program Associate Audiometrists are required to undertake one examination (in Audiometry)
  • Once Examination/s has been successfully undertaken Associate status will be upgraded to Full/Ordinary status with ACAud. Once this level of membership is obtained the Member is eligible to apply for a Qualified Practitioner Number from the Office of Hearing Services in Australia. This Qualified Practitioner Number enables the Member to conduct work under the government program in Australia
