ACAud Memberships

  • Honorary Fellow

    This member is an individual who has been of extra-ordinary service to the field of Audiology in Australia or to ACAud.   This is the highest honour that can be bestowed on an individual by ACAud.   An Honorary Fellow may also be eligible for another category of membership, but need not qualify in any other way for membership of ACAud.  Honorary Fellows do not have voting rights.

  • Fellow

    This member is an individual who has achieved the highest level of professional recognition in Australia.   This person is considered an expert or specialist.   There may be sub-categories of Fellowship in line with areas of specialist practice.

  • Full/Ordinary

    This member is an individual who is considered to have experience to be able to work independently.

    Ordinary Members must be recognised by ACAud as competent in at least one of the Basic Competencies AND have been employed full time for a minimum of two years out of the previous four years.

  • Associate

    This member is an individual who has had some formal training, but who is not yet considered sufficiently experienced to work unsupervised in a clinical situation.

    i)         hold a Masters in Audiology (or higher degree) from an Australian university OR hold a minimum 4 year Bachelor in Audiology from an Overseas university


    ii)         hold a relevant Diploma in Audiometry from an Australian tertiary education facility OR hold a minimum Diploma in Audiometry from an Overseas tertiary education facility

  • Student

    Any person, not having formal qualifications in hearing care, who is enrolled in an approved course of instruction at an approved tertiary education facility, may apply for Student Membership

    This member is an entity that has as its primary function, the purpose of providing hearing services.

    A separate prospectus is available upon request for Service Membership.

  • Affiliate

    Open to any person who has an interest in the profession.   No formal qualifications are required.  Affiliate members receive most of the privileges of membership, including member rates at conferences and other ACAud functions, but are not eligible to vote.
