Please be advised of the following information in relation to Overseas Clinician Membership Applications with the Australian College of Audiology (ACAud):-

Qualification Requirements

  • Associate Audiologist – Must hold a minimum Masters Degree in Audiology
  • Associate Audiometrist  – Must hold a minimum Diploma in Audiometry

Online Membership Application Process

  • Visit https://www.acaud.com.au
  • Click on MEMBERSHIP tab on top site menu
  • Click on JOIN tab under Membership tab
  • Click on Associate Membership
  • Click on Sign Up Button
  • Complete all the fields and upload supporting documentation in required fields (Degrees, Academic Transcripts, Full Visa Confirmation Application Approval, ACADEMIC IELTS Test ( – minimum Overall Band score of 7 with no individual element below 6.5)
  • NB – Visa Confirmation Approval at time of application is recommended. Associate Membership will not be granted to an ‘active’ status until the Visa Confirmation Approval is received.

Logged hours are based on full time equivalent employment (38 hours per week)
Pro rata applied as a percentage of employed hours. Please note ACAud Secretariat to be advised of employed hours.

At Elbow Supervision

Under same roof supervision, Associate and Supervisor can be consulting independently but present at the same clinic together

 

Supervisor Requirements

Primary Supervisor (required)

Must have held Full Membership with a PPB (Practitioner Professional Body) for a minimum of 3 Years

Secondary Supervisor (optional)

Must hold Full Membership with a PPB (Practitioner Professional Body)

**PPB (Practitioner Professional Body) include ACAud, Audiology Australia & HAASA

Supervisory Plan must be submitted and approved by ACAud prior to supervision program commencing.

Upon completion of each level of supervision log books & quarterly supervision reports must be submitted in order to progress to the next level of supervision.

Levels 1 & 2 Supervision require onsite supervision.  Nearing completion of Level 2 supervision, Associates are required to undertake a Mid Term Examination, once passing this examination Associates are eligible to progress to Level 3. Level 3 supervision means you have the ability to work offsite from your supervisor.  The fee for this examination is $110.

Final Examination/s (Associate Audiologists & Associate Audiometrists)

  • Upon completion of minimum 6 month supervision program Associate Audiologists & Associate Audiometrists are required to undertake a Case Study style examination.  This Case Study examination attracts an examination fee of $860.00
  • Associate Audiologists are also required to sit an Audiology Examination (3.5 hour written examination), this can be undertaken at any stage during the internship program or at the completion of the internship program.  Audiology Examinations are held in various locations around Australia, and held in the months of April & October each year.  This Audiology Examination attracts an examination fee of $990.00
  • Once Examination/s have been successfully undertaken Associate status will be upgraded to Full/Ordinary status with ACAud. Once this level of membership is obtained the Member is eligible to apply for a Qualified Practitioner Number (QP) from the Office of Hearing Services (OHS) in Australia. This Qualified Practitioner Number enables the Member to conduct work under the government Hearing Services Program in Australia

    A person deemed not competent in HRS (Hearing Rehabilitation Specialist) examination on three occasions is not eligible to reapply for examination. A submission to the ACAud Board for special consideration will be considered, special consideration must detail why an exemption should be given.
