Audiology Regulation Updates

The Australian hearing healthcare profession is currently undergoing one of the most significant policy developments in its history, with governments progressing work towards the regulation of audiologists under the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme (NRAS) and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra).

ACAud is actively participating in these discussions and has a seat at the policy table through its involvement in the Audiology Regulation Reference Group (ARRG) and ongoing engagement with government and key stakeholders. This provides ACAud with the opportunity to contribute to policy development, advocate for the interests of the hearing healthcare workforce and ensure member perspectives are considered throughout the process.

We recognise that members have many questions about what regulation may mean for practitioners, employers, students, educators and consumers. While many aspects of the proposed framework remain under development, ACAud is committed to keeping members informed with factual updates, consultation opportunities, discussion papers and key milestones as information becomes available.

Through our participation in the policy process, ACAud continues to advocate for:

· Safe, high-quality hearing healthcare for all Australians.

· Recognition of the valuable contribution of qualified hearing healthcare practitioners.

· Sustainable workforce solutions that support regional, rural and remote communities.

· Fair and practical transition arrangements.

· Ongoing access to hearing services for consumers.

This page has been created as a central source of information for ACAud members. We will regularly publish updates from government consultations, policy discussions, stakeholder meetings and ACAud advocacy activities so members can stay informed as the regulatory framework evolves.

ACAud remains committed to constructive engagement throughout this process and will continue to represent the interests of our members while supporting a strong and sustainable future for hearing healthcare in Australia.
