This member is an individual who is considered to have the qualifications and experience to be able to work independently.
Full/Ordinary Members must be recognised by ACAud as competent and meet the minimum level required for membership as either:
i) an Audiologist with a Masters in Audiology (or higher degree) from an Australian university OR an equivalent degree from an overseas university and have completed their initial internship.
ii) an Audiometrist with a relevant Diploma in Audiometry from an Australian tertiary education provider (or higher degree) OR an equivalent overseas qualification and have completed their initial internship.
Full/Ordinary Members must complete sufficient working hours and meet continuing education requirements to maintain their eligibility for membership.
This member is an individual who has completed some formal education, but who is not yet considered sufficiently experienced to work unsupervised in a clinical situation and is undertaking their internship. They must:
i) have a Masters degree in Audiology (or higher degree) from an Australian university OR an equivalent degree from an overseas university.
OR
ii) hold a relevant Diploma in Audiometry from an Australian tertiary education provider OR hold an equivalent overseas qualification.
Any person, not having formal qualifications in hearing care, who is enrolled in an approved course of instruction at an approved tertiary education facility, may apply for Student Membership.
This member is an individual who has achieved the highest level of professional recognition in Australia. This person is considered an expert or specialist. They must be eligible for Full/Ordinary Membership and have contributed significantly to the field of Audiology.
Affiliate Members are not practicing clinicians. This membership is open to any person who has an interest in the profession. No formal qualifications are required. Affiliate members receive communications, and discounted rates at conferences and other ACAud functions, but are not eligible to vote.
This member is an individual who has been of extra-ordinary service to the field of Audiology in Australia or to ACAud. This is the highest honour that can be bestowed on an individual by ACAud. An Honorary Fellow may also be eligible for another category of membership, but need not qualify in any other way for membership of ACAud. Honorary Fellows do not have voting rights.
This member is an individual who has been admitted as a Fellow, who has subsequently retired from the workforce and who wishes to maintain contact with the profession. Retired members receive most of the privileges of membership, including member rates at conferences and other ACAud functions, but are not eligible to vote.
This member is an individual who has been admitted as a Full Member for a minimum of ten years, or who became a member prior to 1 January 1997, who has subsequently retired from the workforce and who wishes to maintain contact with the profession. Retired members receive most of the privileges of membership, including member rates at conferences and other ACAud functions, but are not eligible to vote.
