HR Audiologist

HR Audiologist

A Fellow or Full Member holding a current HR Audiologist Competency Certificate may provide hearing rehabilitation services consistent with the ACAud Scope of Practice for Hearing Rehabilitation Specialists (HRS).

The HR Audiologist pathway has been developed to support contemporary workforce and certification pathways, including internationally qualified clinicians undertaking approved ACAud clinical internship programs.

Certification as an HR Audiologist includes:

  • completion of an approved internship pathway
  • supervised clinical practice
  • competency assessment
  • successful completion of applicable examination and certification requirements

HR Audiologists hold a limited scope of practice and do not hold the full scope of practice of audiologists.

Clinicians holding the HR Audiologist title may also be undertaking further internship and certification requirements toward the Diagnostic Rehabilitation Specialist (DRS) pathway for full recognition as an Audiologist Full Member holding a Certificate of Clinical Practice (CCP).

Once granted, certification must be maintained through ongoing clinical practice and continuing professional development.

The HR Audiologist Competency Certificate forms part of the recognised professional criteria required for ACAud members using the professional title “audiologist”.
