A national conversation bringing together Australia's hearing healthcare workforce to shape practical recommendations for the future.
What should the hearing health journey look like for a newborn born in Australia today? How should they be supported before school, through education, into work and adulthood, through healthy ageing and into aged care? And what workforce does Australia need to make that pathway real?
Australia’s Hearing Health Workforce Summit 2026 will bring together people from across the hearing health system to examine that journey across the lifespan.
The Summit will consider where programs, services, training pathways and workforce capability already exist, where gaps and disconnections remain, and what practical changes could better connect the pathway for Australians who need hearing health care and support.
Every check must connect to a response. Every response needs a workforce ready to deliver it.
Across Australia, many of the building blocks already exist within the hearing, health, education and community sectors.
They can be found in the work of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers and Health Practitioners, nurse audiometrists, audiometrists, audiologists, educators, researchers, students, employers, community organisations, service providers and others working across the hearing health journey.
ACAud is convening the Summit to bring these perspectives together, identify what is already working, understand where the genuine workforce and system gaps lie, and help shape practical recommendations for the future.
The Summit is now taking shape
The formal submission period for the Hearing Health Workforce Summit 2026 has now closed.
Thank you to everyone who contributed information, evidence, experience and ideas during the submission process. These contributions are helping inform the development of the Summit program and the framework for the two days.
Invitations to participate in the Summit are now being issued to representatives from across the hearing health, health, education, workforce, government, community, research and consumer sectors.
The conversation does not stop with the close of formal submissions.
If you have relevant information, research, workforce data, program examples or other material that you believe should be considered as part of the Summit, you are still welcome to send it to hearingsummit@acaud.org.
While material received after the formal submission period may not form part of the original submission process, ACAud will continue to consider relevant information as the Summit develops.
